YOU | Inspired

How do you achieve level of excitement and energy that you and only you can sustain? Understand what you need to be energized and make better choices about how you manage your energy.  Many of us do things that we are good at but not necessarily the things that we are passionate about in environments and with people that bring us energy.  We all have a “secret formula” a “unique code” that when decoded opens our gateway to inspiration.  Kevin reveals the answers that are already inside of you and the keys that enable you to be “self-inspired” in a powerful and sustainable way.  Kevin illustrates what motivates you, what stresses you, and how to make better choices to get what you need.  Kevin also explores why everything you need to be inspired is already inside of you and how this perspective can minimize your stress and help you to depersonalize challenging interactions and relationships.

You Are Your Brand

Authenticity in practice

Creating a positive perception coupled with substance is powerful!  It starts with knowing your personal brand.  An example of a personal brand is the five things that come to mind when people hear your name or see your face.  You are brand positive, brand-neutral, or brand negative.  Brand positive means you are perceived positively. Brand neutral means you are an unknown entity.  Brand negative means you are perceived negatively. To maximize their effectiveness, they must reinvent their brand such that it does not impede their effectiveness or create a barrier to developing effective relationships. Kevin illustrates the power of the Authentic Brand.  The brand that represents who you really are is consistent and requires minimum energy for the project.  Kevin also explores how sharing with others what they can expect from you when you are inspired and what they can expect from you when you are stressed actually works for you and not against you.  Kevin shares real-life stories of the process of moving from brand negative to brand positive and the power of authenticity.

Teamwork | What It Really Takes

Working in teams can often be frustrating. This frustration fuels the perception that the team structure or interdependencies, especially in matrix organizations, produces chaos. Traditional and matrix structures involve developing and navigating relationships across the organization, identifying interdependencies, and effectively negotiating how those dependencies are managed. This requires awareness of the dynamics impacting other parts of the business and how the choices in your domain of influence and control impact success. This involves being organizationally aware.

Additionally, managing the dynamics includes collaborating on priorities and how resources will be leveraged to achieve success with those priorities. Kevin illustrates that it is unnecessary to boil the ocean to improve teamwork. He explains how to empower yourself to think outside the box independently and collaboratively and not to be constrained by rules that lead to poor choices. Kevin shares how to challenge the rules independently or build a coalition that pushes back to accomplish what is in the organization’s best interest. He shares stories, methods, and techniques learned working in teams and with clients to improve team effectiveness.

Engagement

How To Achieve It, How To Sustain It

The Gallup Q12 is a tool used to measure the level of engagement in an organization.  Their data indicates fewer than 30% of employees are engaged at work.  Kevin creatively illustrates what leaders do unconsciously to foster disengagement and what employees do that contributes to their disengagement.  He also shares how simple conversations that lead to understanding and commitment can reverse disengagement.  Kevin emphasizes that self-awareness and personal accountability are critical factors in achieving sustainable engagement.

THINK! Leadership

All leaders can benefit by better understanding the relationship between leadership style and being an inspirational leader. Kevin shares his unique global experience delivering his proprietary leadership program within GE Healthcare. He illustrates how a strengths-based approach to helping leaders maximize their effectiveness as inclusive and inspirational leaders can enhance employee engagement. Additionally, Kevin shares how to improve your skills in building rapport/relationships with your direct reports, matrix teams, and those you need to collaborate with and influence. To this end, he explains how assessments are objective tools to provide insight into motivational needs, strengths, and stressors.

Additionally, Kevin will explain how this insight can enhance your ability to uncover the motivational needs of others and identify where differences in needs can be managed more effectively to increase employee engagement and inclusive leadership. The philosophy here is that differences misunderstood create conflict, and differences understood create synergy. The topics of this inspiring and experiential presentation include self-awareness, personal alignment, personal accountability, personal branding, success enablers, success obstacles, effective use of questions, human dynamics, rapid rapport building, relationship management, style differences, and self-management techniques.

THINK! | Challenge What You Are Telling Yourself

Things would be fine if they would do what I ask them to do the way I would!  This assumes that everyone prefers what you prefer and that what works for you works for them.  Good luck with that!  Kevin reveals how what we tell ourselves with our self-talk, even the words we use, drives the following behavior.  If we tell ourselves something negative, it typically results in negative perceptions that lead to harmful or ineffective actions.  Kevin illustrates how our reactions start as physical reactions that, if not understood, result in cognitive choices that lead to behavior we often regret.  Kevin also shares humorous stories and examples of building the mental muscle necessary to override this natural human stress response.
